For your searching convenience, we compiled transgender-specific
resources and listed them below. Please note that the
on-campus and off-campus resources listed
on separate pages are transgender-inclusive but not
transgender-specific.
Counseling
and Health
Services
Counseling and Health Services provide safe and affirming care to ALL
their patients and are committed to excellent care for GLBT students. Please
note that transgender students may request hormone prescriptions through Health
Services. Check out these 10 things that transgender people
should discuss with their health care providers.
The
Office of Residence Life and Housing
The Office of Residence Life and Housing offers gender-neutral housing. Efforts are directed towards establishing a community where there is
an appreciation of diversity and a respect for individual rights. There is a
process in place for students to request special accommodations based on medical
or psychological needs. The senior director of Health and Counseling works with
each request individually to plan a housing accommodation that will best meet
the student's specific needs. This may include a single room with a private
bath, selected roommates or certain areas on campus. Sophomores, juniors and
seniors may also select to live in designated gender neutral suites or
apartments with shared bathrooms. For details, please contact the
Office of Residence Life
and Housing, or contact the GLBT Coordinator,
Lisa Forest,
of the GLBTA Pride
Center.
The Registrar's
Office
The Registrar's Office will update student records for students or alumni
who request a name or gender change due to a gender transition (proper documentation
required). Please see Lisa Forest of the GLBTA Pride Center, or Irene
Checkovich, the Registrar, for more information.
Single Occupant Restrooms (SOR)
Currently, BSC does have several buildings with SORs but most of those
restrooms are currently reserved for faculty or staff. The two SORs located in
the RCC are not reserved for faculty and staff and are open for student access.
You can download a list of SORs on campus
(a pdf document).
