Pride Center Ambassadors

The Ambassador program is a student leadership program whose mission is to provide students with opportunities to apply their eadership skills, refine their understanding of and communication of GLBT issues, and advocate for greater GLBT inclusion and equity on campus.  Whether you identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or as an ally  -- if you want to get more involved in advocating for the GLBT community, then this opportunity may be for you.

Ambassadors:

  • Serve as a confidential liaison between the Center and students
  • Determine and execute diversity initiatives of interest to the ambassadors. For example, one initiative the Ambassadors are working on is ensuring gender neutral single occupancy restrooms are being built in all new buildings and building renovations.
  • Take a leadership role in the development and/or delivery of GLBTA Pride Center programming and events.
  • Serve as a coordinator or host when needed for GLBTA Pride Center sponsored programs and events.
  • Are available to serve as a speaker and/or presenter at classes and at training workshops provided by the Center.
  • Are knowledgeable about the GLBTA Pride Center and share that knowledge with other students, faculty and staff. It is important to know which events or programs are taking place as well as the meeting times and locations.
  • Get to know many people and have fun while making a difference!

Who Are the Ambassadors?

Elvire Agossou-A
=> "El" (She, Her, Hers)

I am currently finishing a double bachelor in Physical Education and Psychology as an international student from a country called Benin in West Africa. I have a grand interest in all that makes us different and at the same time comes into unifying us all as one and the same. I enjoy listening and being supportive of people.  I do my best to see life from different perspectives, and I am always happy to be there for others. You are welcome to contact me at eagossouague@bridgew.edu

Tom Gordon

I am currently a Sophomore here at BSC, pursuing a double major in Mathematics and Economics.  I grew up in SE Massachusetts, and served in the military overseas and in the US for six years.  I've lived in 13 other countries, and I'm hoping to add to that list.  When I'm not traveling, saving the world, or at school I can be found playing video games, enjoying a rousing game of Dungeons and Dragons, or working as a bartender.  I love all things dorky.  During the Fall 09' and Spring 10' school year I will be an RA at Crimson, so feel free to stop by if you ever want to talk about anything- from GLBTA related stuff, or Star Trek.  I'm totally down like a clown.  t1gordon@student.bridgew.edu

Kate Hayes-Huer (zie, hir, hirs)

Born in 1984, I lived on the South Shore most of my life until 2003 when I moved to Savannah, Georgia for college.  I've been back since the end of 2006, and I've since worked as a receptionist, married my best friend, and started working on the missing half of my here at Bridgewater State.  I identify as queer and genderqueer and am passionate about support and resources for queer folks of all stripes on campus.  When on campus, I'm usually in the GLBTA Pride Center, where I am also a Student Worker, the Weaving Lofts in the Art Center, or somewhere between the two.  I consider myself good-humored and approachable and whether you have an issue as a current or prospective student or you just want to chat, don't hesitate to contact me at elliblue@gmail.com.

Hannah Johnson
Hannah is studying Art with a concentration in Fine Arts and hopes to pursue a career in makeup and prosthetic design for movies. In her spare time she enjoys going to concerts, sewing creatures out of socks, and teaching herself to play the accordion.

Samantha Louis
(She, Her, Hers)

Hi, my name is Samantha. I am also known as Sam, Sami, Samonty and many more. (I love nick names) I am a junior here at Bridgewater State College with a major in psychology and a minor in criminal Justice. In the future hopefully I would be a psychologist or an immigration lawyer. I believe that I am a very friendly person. I always have a smile on, even though most of the time it's for no reason. And I like to say hi A LOT. I also have a Blue Blistex that I am absolutely obsess with. It was Love at first site. But yea if you have any questions, concern or just want to talk, just email me @ slouis@bridgew.edu :).
