Pride Center Events

In celebration of LGBT History Month, Bridgewater State College's GLBTA Pride Center is excited to present Robyn Ochs. In addition to being a long-time activist for the GLBTA community, she is also the editor of the anthology Getting Bi: Voices of Bisexuals Around the World, and The Bisexual Resource Guide

As a professor, she taught classes at Tufts, MIT, and Johnson State College on topics such as GLBT history and politics in the United States, the politics of sexual orientation, and the experiences of those who are affected by stereotypes. She has also been a guest expert on bisexuality on Donohue, Maury Povich, and featured in the magazines Seventeen and Newsweek.

At BSC, Robyn Ochs will share her knowledge of bisexuality in her "Beyond Binaries: Identity and the Sexuality Spectrum" discussion.  She will explore many questions including how we assign labels to our complicated and unique experiences, the relationship between experience and identity, and the question of the fluidity of identity versus fixed identity.

If you are faculty, please encourage your students to attend and perhaps consider offering extra credit to those who do. If you would like to bring students or a class with you, please contact Lisa Forest at 508-531-1408 or lisa.forest@bridgew.edu to reserve seats.

Let us know you're attending. Please register to attend the Keynote Address.

The Keynote Address is part of a series of events commemorating GLBT History Month in October. Each year we invite a new speaker to address a different topic. Check out our previous keynote speakers, John Amaechi and John Corvino.
